Personality: Atsuko is kind of shy, unless you were to ask her about her research. She is not the biggest fan of people, but she gets along fine when she needs to. She is fairly comical and doesn't take life all that seriously, unless she is working.

Abilities: Average fire bender, not to good, but she can control her fire. Because she has never been truly trained in fire bending, she can only control a small amount at a time without hurting those she does not intend to. As a spiritual researcher she has learned how to see the spirits of the people around her. To an extent, she can even see what people are going to do next. Her main research goal is to make it possible for anyone to enter the realm of spirits. She believes this can be achieved with help from the avatar.

Appearance: Atsuko has fairly long brown hair put back in a ponytail. She wears a yellow blouse with an red scarf and black cloth pants. She has fair skin and emerald green eyes. When she goes out she takes with her a satchel, just for those rare occasions she finds something useful.

History: There are none who truly know the origin of this girl, but the furthest back she can remember is about ten years. Back then, she was a homeless little girl on the side of the street, but even that is mostly a blur to her. At about age seven, a man came up to her, he was homeless as well. He kindly asked her name, but that was something she never thought of before, she didn't have a name. "Don't have one, huh," the man said, " in that case, I'll call you Atsuko. 'S my wife's name, but she ain't using it, so 's yours now." The man, who called himself Tom, passed away two years later. She believed she could find him and her real parents in the spirit realm, but she didn't know how to get there. Because of that, she vowed to find it. Since that time, Atsuko found a home. An old house that had been abandoned. She is still staying there illegally, but she has not once been told to leave. As for fire bending, she just could for as long as she can remember.
